Overview
Television executive Joanna Eberhart moves with her family to Stepford and discovers that the town's formerly independent women have been converted into perfectly obedient wives through technology controlled by the Men's Association.
ASFR Content
Unlike the 1975 film's replacement robots, the 2004 version presents most Stepford wives as technologically altered humans fitted with brain-control hardware and additional mechanical capabilities. Sarah responds to a remote control, Bobbie becomes unnaturally compliant and impervious to pain, and the town's software can collectively control the converted residents. Mike Wellington is separately revealed as a completely artificial robot when Joanna decapitates him.
