Overview
Joanna Eberhart moves with her family to Stepford, Connecticut, where she becomes increasingly disturbed by the town’s unnaturally submissive and uniform housewives and eventually uncovers the secret behind them.

The film’s central revelation is that Stepford’s wives are being murdered and replaced by highly convincing robot doubles. Bobbie malfunctions after being stabbed
Joanna stabs the transformed Bobbie in the kitchen. Bobbie does not bleed; instead she begins repeating phrases and mechanically dropping cups, saucers and coffee grounds, revealing that she has been replaced by a robot.
Joanna encounters her unfinished robot duplicate
Inside the Men’s Association mansion, Joanna enters a replica bedroom and discovers a duplicate of herself with unfinished, empty eye sockets. The artificial Joanna rises and approaches her.
The completed Joanna robot appears in the supermarket
The closing sequence shows the finished Joanna duplicate calmly shopping among the other Stepford wives, confirming that the replacement has been completed.
