Overview
The colony ship Covenant is maintained by Walter, a newer synthetic designed to be less independent than the earlier David model. On an apparently habitable world the crew encounters David, now pursuing his own experiments with the Engineer pathogen.
ASFR Content
The film centres heavily on two nearly identical human-looking androids, both played by Michael Fassbender. Walter has deliberately limited creativity and more constrained programming, while David has developed extreme independence. Walter loses a hand, is stabbed through the neck and later fights David. David ultimately defeats him and impersonates Walter, successfully returning to the Covenant before Daniels realises the substitution.

ASFR Scenes
Walter's hand is torn off
During the Neomorph attack, Walter protects the human crew and loses a hand, visibly demonstrating the durability and replaceable construction of his synthetic body.
David and Walter compare their programming
David and Walter discuss their different design philosophies. Walter explains that the newer model has been restricted because David's creative and emotional autonomy disturbed humans.
David impales Walter through the neck
After Walter confronts David over Shaw's death, David drives a flute through Walter's neck and leaves the newer android apparently disabled.
Walter returns and fights David
Walter, having recovered from the neck wound, attacks David. The two visually identical synthetics fight one another while arguing over their different programming.
David impersonates Walter aboard Covenant
David defeats Walter off-screen and returns with the surviving crew while pretending to be the newer synthetic. Daniels only realises the substitution as David prepares her for cryosleep.
