Overview
After inventor Simon Polk dies, his niece Barbara learns that keeping her inheritance requires her to live with and care for his final invention: a robot.

Barbara and the lawyer enter Simon's laboratory and discover the machine locked inside. Once activated, the robot's learning program gradually acquires Simon's familiar habits, demands and insults. Barbara eventually attempts to destroy the machine, but the durable robot survives and continues developing into an artificial continuation of her uncle.
