Overview

Professor Ernest Belman constructs Olga, a female robot modelled on his niece Penelope, and hires Roger Cavendish to escort the machine in public as a test of whether she can pass as human. Penelope secretly takes Olga's place, creating a farce when the real robot later joins them.

ASFR Content

Olga is a deliberately human-looking female robot created as the professor's idea of a 'perfect woman'. She is designed closely enough to Penelope for the human woman to impersonate the machine, while Olga's behaviour is controlled through code words and she can be switched off. The film is an unusually early example of a humanoid female robot being tested for social believability.
