Overview

Human-looking android Chip Carson leaves home for college, where he meets Roberta, another android created by a rival research team. As Chip teaches Roberta about free will, a deliberately planted computer virus begins progressively destroying his own systems.

ASFR Content

The sequel substantially expands Chip's software-based artificial behaviour. He installs a facial-expression upgrade but accidentally receives a virus that causes memory lapses, poor judgement and progressive loss of body control. Roberta is a second human-looking android whose choices are initially tightly programmed. Chip reprograms her for greater independence, and later preserves her personality and memories to disk when her battery is exhausted.
