Overview
During a war between humanity and artificial intelligence, former soldier Joshua Taylor is ordered to destroy a new AI superweapon. He discovers that the weapon is Alphie, a child-form simulant whose ability to control technology grows rapidly.

The film's simulants combine realistic human faces and bodies with openly mechanical cranial structures. Alphie is a child-form AI designed from the genetic pattern of Joshua and Maya's unborn daughter. The finale includes a dormant Maya-lookalike simulant receiving a copy of Maya's memories and briefly reactivating before NOMAD is destroyed.

Joshua discovers the AI weapon is a child simulant
Inside the AI facility Joshua finds Alpha-O and realises the supposed weapon is a young humanoid artificial person rather than a conventional device.
Alphie is temporarily shut down
Captured by U.S. forces, Joshua appears to neutralise Alphie with an electromagnetic device but deliberately leaves her able to reactivate.
Maya's memories are loaded into a simulant body
On NOMAD, Alphie finds a dormant simulant with Maya's likeness and inserts the memory drive containing the brain data copied from Maya.
The Maya simulant activates before NOMAD is destroyed
The artificial Maya awakens and briefly reunites with Joshua as the orbital station breaks apart.
