Overview

In a dystopian Los Angeles, former police officer Rick Deckard is ordered to hunt down four escaped bioengineered replicants. His investigation also introduces him to Rachael, an experimental replicant who believes that she is human.

ASFR Content

Blade Runner's replicants are manufactured biological people rather than mechanical robots, but the film is central to artificial-human fiction. Rachael is so convincing that she does not know she is artificial; the Voight-Kampff test is needed to identify her, and her childhood memories are revealed to be implants. The escaped Nexus-6 replicants are similarly human-looking but have engineered lifespans and designed abilities.
