Overview
In 2080, robots and cyborgs are integrated into everyday society but have limited operational lifespans. Police officer R hunts renegade cyborgs while desperately searching for a way to save Ria, a companion gynoid whose three-year lifespan is almost over.

Natural City contains numerous humanoid artificial beings, including military cyborgs and human-looking companion 'dolls'. Ria is a female artificial companion approaching programmed expiration. A black-market process can transfer a cyborg's artificial intelligence into a human host, leading R to consider sacrificing the human Cyon in order to preserve Ria.
