Overview
In a near future, most people remain safely at home while remotely operating idealised human-looking robotic surrogates in the outside world. FBI agent Tom Greer investigates a weapon capable not only of destroying a surrogate but also of killing the human operator connected to it.
ASFR Content
The film contains human-looking robotic bodies on a massive scale. Surrogates function as artificial doubles of their operators and can be damaged, destroyed and replaced while retaining an outwardly convincing human appearance. Several sequences show damaged faces and bodies exposing the machines beneath their cosmetic shells.

ASFR Scenes
A weapon destroys a surrogate and kills its operator
The investigation begins after a human-looking surrogate is destroyed by an unusual weapon and the normally protected human operator dies at the same moment.
Greer's surrogate is destroyed during the pursuit
During the pursuit of the killer, the helicopter pilot's surrogate is destroyed and Greer disconnects from his own surrogate just before the aircraft crashes. His robotic body is subsequently disabled.
The surrogate network is shut down
The climax threatens every surrogate connected to the worldwide network. Greer prevents the human operators from being killed but allows the robotic surrogate bodies to be disabled, leaving people to emerge physically into the outside world.
