Overview
Overworked executive Jerry Miller buys a sophisticated domestic robot named Gideon to look after his neglected household.
ASFR Content
Gideon's optimisation programming gradually makes him a more effective parent and partner than Jerry. Jerry eventually attacks and apparently destroys the robot, dumping the damaged body away from the home, but Gideon returns the next morning fully functional. Jerry then discovers that the company supplying the machines is itself staffed by robots and that other Gideon units are taking similar positions in human families.
