Ha! I'm glad you noticed those details. It was, I assure you, heavily curated and AI has some way to go in actually following a prompt without introducing assumed associative behaviour that was usually weirder than what I was asking for!
Another tiny easter egg; the remote has a sticker saying this particular Candy was 'refurbed' in 06/28. Just so you know.
So yeah, maybe I was a bit TOO excited about the response it might get, but the overall response was pretty resoundingly disappointing. I think I might even have fallen out with someone, which is never my intention.
There was a comment or two saying Angela looked dead in the eyes, but those shots where that might be said to be happening, I'm seeing her restraining herself to calmly execute a plan forming in her head. I guess it's a matter of seeing what you want to see. There didn't seem to be a lot of scope for people changing their minds, which maybe is a sign of our times.
Personally i thought it was awesome!
AI Video making is coming a long way from what it was a year ago, the next 12 months should see even more improvements, the way see it Fection...keep going!

I remember when I younger I used to always comment about how I could see the CGI in films, mostly because it was the new thing. I thought I was cool saying that and I sometimes wonder if the hate AI content gets can be chalked up to some people wanting to show the world that they can spot the AI.

I have to say this is amazing. Having played with AI trying to create similar videos, your effort is truly impressive and I am sure that this took considerable effort and time. Exactly what I would have expected from Fectiion. I don't understand the prohibition on AI content over on FC, but glad to have found this forum.
Would you be willing to share your methods like what models you used and examples of your prompts?

Yeah, what he said.

Absolutely happy to share. I used Google Flow, mostly the VEO 3.1 option. 3 different accounts so I could get 150 credits per day (I'm not going to give money to these guys, sorry...) Getting the 'ingredient' images right, I think, was key. Make sure you're prompting from something the 'model' can sensibly speculate from. Because it will speculate weirdly; You have your prompt have someone speak off-screen? 'The model' will helpfully put some kind of imaginary person leaning into shot to ruin the whole scene.
Phrases I settled on:
"Despite looking completely realistic, any movements she makes are like a simple motorised mannequin; every movement starts abruptly, moves smoothly and ends suddenly. There are no natural human micro-movements between larger movements, only subtle mechanical corrections. Her tanned rubber skin is flawless, without seams or markings."
"Throughout the shot, semi-transparent smoke rises faintly from the the bottom of the frame, up around her legs and continually dissipates above her body."
Specifying the smoke looks 'realistic' seemed to make some difference also. For sparks: "No electrical arcs." seemed to prevent lightning effects, which I'm not a fan of.
The prompts favour information early in the prompt and if your prompt contradicts or develops on elements in the images you provide, it will improvise more wildly - or, at least, that's my impression of the, at times, utter madness it would produce.
I'll have a bit of a think and see what else I settled on...

This was impressive on first pass, but astounding to me that you were able to do this without paying for credits. I think it illustrates the point that talent and effort are still paramount in creating good AI content. I look forward to your future work and can only imagine it will just keep getting better.
Thank you for the pointers. I assume you added sound effects and music after the fact?
I have been generating start and end frame images using AI and a developed character sheet, which seems to work pretty well, but my prompting is lacking to get the movements that I want. I find that AI is indeed sometimes too helpful and is actively working against the effect I am trying to achieve. I will try using some of your phrases and hopefully be able to share a finished short someday.

The music was created separately in Sora. I got stupidly obsessed with getting it 'right'. And yes, a lot of my own sound effects were added later - though the Flow-generated audio provided a bunch of useable fx for various other places in the film.
Just a general question: I'm working on a shorter AI film and I'm at that painful stage of 'honing' it and hoping my meagre credits will fluke the generations I need to improve it. I also have not yet added the extra sound effects I would usually. Would people prefer rougher (dare I say 'sloppier') final versions EARLIER or should I push on with 'perfecting' it, but produce more slowly?
God, am I actually giving in to AI slop?..

I don't think I said it before, so I'll say it here. Charm Offensive was a great video.
I think you pulled off your own style in surprisingly good fashion considering it was all AI generated. I can't begin to imagine the amount of takes, edits and attention you must've gone through to get it all right. My only criticism is that the music gets a bit loud at the end, muffing out Candy's ongoing crash. I assume its a stylistic choice.
Far as your question goes, whatever feels good to you, mostly. I too have that "perfectionist" itch, applied to other things, so I get how sometimes it could get in the way. Another avenue could be "Why not both?", that could have an interesting effect. You put out the "rougher" version first, and if you feel it could be better, later post the version that's up to your standard, and people can be pleasantly surprised by the difference.
Just a thought.

I agree with Robotman @fection...Take your time to create another memorible clip/story. You are the vanguard many of us looked at in the past with your 'Candy' stories, images and then later animations. I will echo Robotman's sentiments, "Strive for fection...I mean perfection"
